Twitter Lists: Good or Bad?

  • Twitter lists are good, in the sense, it does no harm if you are not using one, anyway. And when I was included in the list of 'Thought Leaders' by one popular twitterer, I felt very good!

    Thanks for your reply Anand,

but just to play devil's advocate (stirring the conversation ;-) how would you feel if you were included in a list called "tweets way too much" or "boring twitterers" (not that you are of course :)
  • Haha..quite a possibility..But then, doesn't that go against the concept of Twitter followers? Why would someone follow a Twitter user who tweets excessively boring stuff..

It would be another thing if twitter followers were like your Gmail contacts who get added to you, even if they were the one who write to you. You could set a filter and push all those guys directly into 'mark as read and archive'..

I think that part of the concern for those who are against it is the isolation that groups can bring. It's not so much the lists that are damaging, but the sans-group that may be unintentionally insulting to some.

For myself, I think the lists have many benefits, but I myself will not be making any other groups as there are already plenty others with common interests as me. However, I will subscribe myself to a group when I find it beneficial and interesting.
