the AC tribute
By Sam Chan

I didn’t even know the man.
but damn, ima fan of watchin him slam.
watchin him smoke us for two-three easy,
its enough to make even big wheezy queasy.

I really aint never see him lose
Its not cause of perfection, its cause he refused
to back down, settle for second place.
Worked his way up with elegance and grace.
Straight to the hole, neva to fall.
his game sayin: f— all y’all, this my court and my ball.

All the good always seem to die young
Hung, rung, or a gun in the lungs.
But a man’s passion ain’t never die, son.
even in death, its he who still won.

A musician’s dream is to motivate others
Another’s dreams, to make proud, their mothers.
Never giving up, creating his own destiny
Its inspired enough to bring the best outta me.

Like Ol dirty, biggie and pac
Joining heaven’s chorus, God r.i.p.a.c.
They say the best inspiration comes from misery
If its like that, then Ima forget about poetry.

An Ode to a Canuck
By Sam Chan

An old boy, but not yet a man
One who ne’er walked and always ran
so much passion, spirit and speed
he needed a bike to fill his needs.

an inspiration for an entire city
who proudly represented his whole country
went by the name of luc bourdon
and now we mourn that he’s gone.

Essay for English One-oh-two
By Sam Chan

to be well organized.
Can poetry really be well organized?

My father’s not white, nor my mother black
Racism? Feminism? Man, I don’t know jack.

Give me 20 more books, and I couldn’t explain what it is.
Just like Walt Whitman couldn’t tell you what grass is.

Digging, through my brain, my skull, to find it.
My daddy’s daddy dug crops, but I just eat it.

All the libraries in the world couldn’t show,
But I only need one line, I suppose

What isn’t?

It may not be the greatest, but to me its true,
This is my sorry ass essay for English one oh two.
