NHL Hockey: 2008-2009 Round 3 Playoffs Predictions

In round 2, I went 2 of 4, bolding boasting that my canucks would take the hawks in 5. I still cry silently every night before I go to bed. Even though I no longer care who wins and am 3 games late, I thought I would post my Round 3 Predictions as well. I have to go with the safe bet of a Pittsburgh and Detroit final, with Pittsburgh going 7 and Detroit beating those pesky darn hawks once and for all in 5. That is all.

Taking a look at my past predictions:
Round 2:

Western Conference:

2 Detroit Red Wings vs 8 Anaheim Ducks
Wings in 6

3 Vancouver Canucks vs 4 Chicago Blackhawks
Canucks in 5

Eastern Conference:

1 Boston Bruins vs 6 Carolina Hurricanes
Bruins in 7

2 Washington Capitals vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Penguins in 5

Round 1:

Western Conference:

1 San Jose Sharks vs 8 Anaheim Ducks
Sharks in 6.

2 Detroit Red Wings vs 7 Columbus Blue Jackets
Wings in 5

3 Vancouver Canucks vs 6 St. Louis Blues
Canucks in 7

4 Chicago Blackhawks vs 5 Calgary Flames
Hawks in 6

Eastern Conference:

1 Boston Bruins vs 8 Montreal Canadians
Bruins in 4

Giveaway Monday: Custom UPrinting Business Cards & Brochures

The days of dirty snow and waterproof boots are finally behind us now, so to celebrate, I’m hosting another giveaway! (High Five for Free Stuff!) This giveaway comes courtesy of UPrinting, who contacted me a couple of weeks ago and was curious to see if my readers would be interested in receiving some free custom business cards and brochures. For any student looking to apply for a summer job, business cards can definitely give you an edge, especially if they’re not the generic ones your school prints for you. And if you’re in marketing or looking to host an event, I’m sure you’re already aware of the exposure that some eye-catching brochures can bring.

Uprinting is not exactly your regular Joe loose leaf library printing quality either. Their blue and green logo has been around for more than twenty years and each project is done personally by experts. Moreover, you are given a free PDF draft of your product. Unlike most print companies, they do not just render and re-size your images to give you an ‘idea’ of what your finished product will look like; they have their people personally work on it as if they’ve already been paid! In my case, they even called me long distance to double check some finer details and even fixed some of my own blunders! I haven’t received my own business cards yet but needless to say, I am very impressed so far and will give everyone an update when it comes.

The rules to this Giveaway Monday are as follows:

1. Leave a comment at the end of the blog post, describing what you would use the free printing for.
2. Leave a name and email so that I can contact you

Please note that only winners in the United States and Canada qualify for free shipping. Shipping fees will apply to winners outside these areas.

The Prizes:
1,000 free standard size business cards
500 free standard size brochures
You can choose from any style on the uprinting site

The Duration:
May 4th to May 11th inclusive

The Winners:
The Winners will be picked from a random draw. Once you put in your comment, you will be automatically entered for both prizes. Winners will be contacted via email

I’m looking forward to seeing everybody’s responses!

The Macberry Files: Arriving

Just Me and my Macbook

If you have been following my twitterfeed, you might have noticed me rambling on about some plane and missing Vancouver and what not. Your suspicions are correct; I have left my beloved town of Vancouver in the middle of an epic playoff run (the impact of my departure was immediately felt as Vancouver lost its first playoff game last night) to head east for four months to work with a little Canadian company called Research in Motion. This trip is special for me because it is my first time leaving home alone, but also because Waterloo is the town I was born in so that puts an extra oompf to this whole trip. I’m nostalgic and excited at the same time so all summer long, I’m going to be providing blogs and vlog updates with everybody here about the crazies I’ve been up to and what cool stuff (tech or otherwise) I find along the way. Already, I’ve noticed the the coke here is less sweet (are they using splenda or something?) and even big chain stores like Shoppers Drug Mart close at 6pm on a Saturday. But until I meet some people, its going to be just me and my Macbook in berry land.

The Macberry files is afoot!
