About
The story begins…
with my name: S-A-M. A Standard Answering Machine. This was my job (inbound telemarketing) for 10 hours a day, and it sucked the living daylight out of me. I would arrive at work before sun rose, and leave after it had set. I like phones a lot (wait, you’ll see how much later) but 150 calls of using the same jargon and dirty selling tactics made me absolutely miserable. The customer service part was fine, but I never got into the mindset of selling them useless protection plans. I wanted to hear about people’s stories, but the timer beeped as each second not spent selling was ‘wasted’. It was the ultimate anti-job for me. Which led me here, online.
A lot of people think that blogging and other social media tools are a reflection of the self-obsessed generation we live in, and maybe they’re right. Here’s the way I see it though: as long as one person’s story can inspire others to share their stories, I can deal with the ’selfish’ tag. So this is my story. It’s filled with scarce tips I learned from school and technology updates from the internetz. It has many a posts about my beloved #Canucks and why we keep losing. My journey has taken me to some cool places where I’ve had the privilege of helping launch corporate websites, contribute in several blogs (here, here, here and somewhere else), and make some really cool videos for a really cool band.
Whether you’re a brand, a company, or just the average Joe, we all have unique stories (even just Another Sam Chan). Hopefully after reading mine, it’ll inspire you to tell yours. And if you need a hand reaching an audience, hit me up at sam@anothersamchan.com and we’ll chat. Thanks for checking in!
